Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve answered some of the most common ones about our work, programs, and how you can get involved.

What is the TNR process?
TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) involves humanely trapping street cats, sterilizing them, and returning them to their original location. This prevents overpopulation while maintaining colony stability.
Do I need to pay for TNR services?
Our TNR program is fully subsidized for eligible feeders and rescuers. While standard procedures are covered, additional costs may apply in special cases (e.g. medical complications). We strive to keep the process as accessible and affordable as possible.
How can I volunteer with Catsoterra?
We welcome volunteers for various roles including TNR assistance, social media & education outreach, and administrative support. Contact us to learn about current opportunities.
I can’t volunteer. Are there other ways I can help?
Absolutely! You can support our efforts by sharing our posts, sponsoring a TNR cat, or helping raise awareness about stray cat welfare in your community. Every bit counts.
How can I report a cat colony in my area?
Please reach out to us through our contact form with the location, photos of the cats, an estimate of their numbers, and any observations about their health condition. Our team will assess the situation and work with you to develop a suitable TNR plan for the colony.
Is Catsoterra a shelter or rescue?
No, Catsoterra is not a shelter or rescue. We are a nonprofit organization focused on humane stray cat population management through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), education, and community outreach.
Do you only work in Penang?
Our operations are currently based on Penang Island. While we focus our fieldwork here, we maintain contact with individuals and organizations across Malaysia, and hope to expand our reach in the future.
